Cricket formations and positions.

Cricket is played eleven a side on a large oval ground around a central pitch of 20.12 metres between the stumps. One side bats while the other bowls and fields, and the sides swap in innings; limited-overs matches have one innings each while longer formats have two. Runs are scored by running between the wickets or by hitting the ball to or over the boundary. The MCC Laws of Cricket apply, administered in England and Wales by the ECB.
