Cross-country skiing: how it is set up and scored.
Cross-country skiing is an individual sport raced over marked snow courses in classic or free technique, with distance events from 10 to 50 kilometres. Most events are a single race against the clock or a mass start, while sprints are run in heats of knock-out rounds. The result is recorded as elapsed time, or finishing position in head-to-head formats. FIS Cross-Country rules apply, administered in Britain by GB Snowsport.
