Gymnastics: how it is set up and scored.
Artistic gymnastics is an individual sport contested on a 12 metre square floor and a set of apparatus: vault, uneven bars, beam and floor for women, with six pieces for men. A competition is run in rotations, the gymnasts moving from one apparatus to the next until each has been completed. Judges give a difficulty score and an execution score for every routine, and the total decides the placings. The FIG Code of Points applies, administered in Britain by British Gymnastics.
