Martial arts: how it is set up and scored.

Martial arts competition is contested one against one on a matted area of 8 metres square or more. A bout is a single contest: four minutes in judo, three minutes in karate kumite and three rounds of two minutes in taekwondo. Judo is won by ippon or on accumulated scores, karate on points for scoring techniques, and taekwondo on points registered by electronic body protectors and judges. IJF, WKF and World Taekwondo rules apply respectively.

There is no lineup to pick in martial arts. A coach records these for each athlete at every competition.
